Building Science Fundamentals, an eCampus Ontario project, is an online open course package used to support the teaching of an introductory course, Building Science.
Audience: Second and third year students enrolled in Building Science, Graduate students whose focus is Building Science, Industry professionals
Students will be able to describe the elements of Building Science and the relationship between building design and the effect on global warming, discuss the impact of the Canadian climate on building design, describe the underlying factors influencing thermal comfort, calculate the resulting moist air properties for various heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification processes, describe the three heat transfer mechanisms, calculate heat transfer through various building sections, show how insulation products can be used to effectively resist heat transfer.
